Looking for "Balance Pads"...

Hi everyone,

I have some Interco LTB tires that need so much weight, they're impossible to balance properly. I plan on popping the beads (easy with beadlocks) and applying balance pads on the sidewalls. Problem is... I can't find anyone selling them!

Myers used to sell an assortment of balance pads made by the Patch Rubber Company, but they've discontinued the product. See page 7 here:

I think the manufacturer might still be making them -- in packs of 25.:

It looks like balance pads are used mainly for aircraft tires, and not so much for cars / trucks...

If anyone knows of a source for these, please let me know.

i'll just throw this out there for you, but i used air soft pellets and really like them. the tires were 255 maxxis big horns. i know that i didn't really answer your question but i thouhgt this may be an alternative.

Thanks, but I already use ceramic beads to address the radial imbalance. The balance pads would be to fix some significant lateral imbalance (one side heavier than the other) in the tire, which cannot be fixed by dynamic balancing products (pellets, beads, powder, etc.).

maybe you should just not run beadlocks on the street. ever thought it could be the wheels, not the tires that are laterally imbalanced?

Oh, it's the tires alright. As a general rule, Interco tires are pretty bad, but the LTBs (35" bias ply) are some of the worst. I can't stack enough weights to balance them, so balance patches are the only way to go. The problem is finding them!

i thought bead locks where illegal on the street in Canada, as far as i know there arnt to many DOT approved ones out there.

If you go to a hobby type store or anyplace that does "derby" kits like the boy scouts use they should have small sheets of stick on weights. You could use those and then 100 MPH tape over the top of them . Now with all the blingy mallcrawlin rigs it has gotten very hard for them to know which is which.
