Looking for D30 and 8.25 with 4.56's

This is kind of a "Wanting to Buy" advert. but I figured posting it here would get the most attention to the people that would be able to help the most.

I'm looking for direct replacement axles for my 1998 Cherokee, but with the 4.56 gears already installed.

This will be an alternative to buying the gears and having to pay to have a shop install them at $100.00/hour = big $$$$$.

Anyways, if you know anyone out there with a set of these axles willing to sell them, let me know.

I'd go with bigger axles, but I just bought new driveshafts to fit this setup. Didn't think that through... :(

Check Dodge Dakota pickups in the junk yards, I think they had the D30/8.25 combo also. Finding some with the gears done already will be the tough part though.

I kind of thought the Dakota's would have the rear, but the front would be tougher...
And the gears is the tough part... :frustrated:

yeah, you will have a rough time finding a combo like that. Even if you do, the chances of finding them near you are slim. As mentioned before, places like pirate4x4 is where you will have to look for those types of gears. Only time I see gearing like that for sale is when people are going to full size axles.

A few other big sights to check are:

pirate4x4
NAXJA.org
jeepforum.com
greatlakes4x4
cherokeeforum.com

though you may have to drive some distance to get them as shipping will kill the wallet.

My very slim hope would be that someone wrecks their XJ and starts parting it out.
Or, sells their trail rig with these in it, and I could swap my stock axles for the built ones. Only snag in that plan is that I've got a Detroit locker in my rear already.

I'm basically looking for a more cost effective way to get the gears under the Jeep, but I think I'm going to end up being SOL unless I do the gear swap myself, and I have ZERO experience doing that...

EDIT: If I had the space, I'd actually prefer to pick up and strip a donor XJ to replace stuff that has broken or worn out on mine. But, no space at my place, I have to park one of my vehicles on the street as is. lol

I just thought of something, does Adam Blaster's Xj already have the 8.25 or are you upgrading from the Dana 35? If I remember correctly, the 8.25's never had ABS brakes, so if you have a D35 with ABS then that will take some contemplating.

The standard route is to nuke the ABS. It's easy to do - there is no systems level integration of the ABS into the rest of the vehicle other than the ABS light on the dash (if you can call that integration).

fyrfytr on here has a post on NAXJA that outlines how to keep the ABS when upgrading to a Dana 44. The same technique could be used on a 8.25 if there is enough room at the flange end of the axle shafts for the tone ring.

I do have the D30 and 8.25 on it now.
I already have new driveshafts both front and back, bought before I thought things through, again  at myself...
If I had thought it through, I would have had the gears done when the axles were off the vehicle during the lift.
