Looking for Used PSD, what to look for when I get there?

I'm looking mainly at 96 and up Crew cab F-250 and 350's. Although I like the older body style of the 96&97 my wife does not and it's also easier to get the configuration I want with the new body. (Solid frt axle and short bed).

Are there any common problems I need to look for when looking for one of these or important things to look for on a higher mileage truck other than the normal stuff?

if they dont have a receipt for the ball joints being done, then it will need them. most shops charge around $1000. typical water/fuel separator housings break and leak all over the driveway.

thats all i know from my dad owning a 2000 f250 7.3/6spd/excab/shrt bed

good luck

If it is auto check fluid, ball joints check for blow by while it is running pull the oil cap it should flow out not puff puff puff out, if it has and up grades chip programmer etc see if it has gauges for egt, Drive it and get one that hasnt been hot rodded.
