Looking to build on my '07 JK

I am looking to build on my 07JK Sahara. Want some tips and suggestions. I bought this brand new and haven't had a chance to really build on it yet, but since it is paid off now I have convinced the wife into letting me drop 5k on just fixing it up and getting all the major add-ons. First off I want a nice lift kit and tire combo. I don't want to lose too much of my every day ride feel and have too much wear since it will be my primary vehicle when I return from Korea, but I want to be able to take it out without too many worries (rocks and mud). I am currently thinking of getting rancho or skyjacker 4" lift with BFG A/T 35s. Any suggestions?

You won't need a 4" lift to clear 35's. Save some cash a put on a 2.5" lift and keep it simple. AEV, Rock Krawler, OME just to name a few.

Answer me this... How does one go 5+ years without modding a jeep? You sir must be a master of self control.

I would suggest looking into some better brands. There is just to much negative reviews on Rancho and Skyjacker. If your going to spend, do it right the first time. I hear nothing but good things about Old Man Emu (I have their shocks, awesome!) and AEV for the JK. 2.5" - 3" is all you need for 35's.

Keep in mind if you really want to retain stock driving you will also need to re-gear and thats another $1200 ish or more at a shop and not a simple at home project for the weekend mechanic without the right tools. Also with 35's you will probably want to upgrade some steering parts, minimum a bigger tie rod so you dont end up folding the stock one up out on a trail. You will also need to look into carrying the heavy spare 35" tire. The stock tailgate will hold for a little bit but eventually it will take its toll bouncing on the trails.
