low voltage cutoff switch

Has anyone installed an low voltage cutoff switch to their fridges?

My ARB will run down my Optima GP 31 Blue top in a night and I would like to have the extra protection of a voltage cutoff. Any recommendations of what I can use? I would like something I can use to run the entire aux battery system .

Thanks

Look up Load Shedding my father uses one in his truck for his amateur radio equipment when he leave's his truck sitting for a while. These devices allow the voltage to drop to a certain level and then shut's off the output.

Not sure about ARB but most fridges have voltage cut out battery protection built in. Many are set to a voltage that is really to low for comfort but can be changed. My waeco uses a Dan Foss compressor and i found the schematic for the controller board on there website and changed out one resistor for pot giving me an adjustable voltage cut out. I usually keep it at 11.8 or so as not to cycle my battery down too far.

Do some searches on here this question has been asked and answered in detail by myself and others many times. Here is a tip for searching. Use google like this

low voltage site:expeditionportal.com

you can try other phrases as well but by putting site:expeditionportal.com after the search term google will pull only hits from the portal. I find this to be even better than an advanced search on nearly all forums, the exception being forums that use google search.

I use a cheap KoolTron 12v extension cord with a low voltage cutoff switch between my 14qt Engel and my ONE! GP 31 Blue Top.

Specs say an 11v cutoff. It works. I get about 2 1/2 days out of the battery before the cutoff switch kills the fridge. No start up problems with my 5.7 Hemi and the Blue Top. I've been using the Blue Top, cutoff switch and Engel for more than a year.

I ordered another extension cord/cutoff switch for an Engel 35 recently, as a result of the very satisfactory performance of the cheap and easy KoolTron switch.

Here's a link to the switch and where I got it: http://roadtrucker.com/koolatron/koolatron-12-volt-cooler-accessories.htm
