now the mapcreate software wont recognize that there is a memmory card in the reader.....so it wont load the map to it?!?!?!?!?!:mixed-smiley-030:

How large is the card and the map file?

I've had trouble with files over 500mb. Try a smaller file and possibly a smaller card size and see what happens.

I'd like to mount the Baja 540c in my Land Rover Lightweight, but given soft top and no locks on my doors, I want to be able to easily remove the Baja for safety.

If I mount the bracket to my dash, do the knobs on the either side of the GPS unscrew and allow you to remove the GPS?

If I hard wire the GPS, is there a plug to the back of the GPS I can unplug when removing it?

Any other mounting ideas that would accomplish this?

Thanks!

Using a RAM mount you can disconnect the unit in seconds and there are a couple of plugs on the backside that come undone. There are knobs on the gimbal mount that screw into the unit and allow it to be indexed into your favorite position but they are a little more difficult to keep track of and take on and off. My vote is the RAM mount.

I use a FourTreks aluminum mount to my roll bar and that requires I disconnect using the screw knobs but my rig can be secured so it's less of an issue.

My rig currently has just a safari bikini and soft doors so the 540 travels with me in the backpack if I need to leave the vehicle. With the RAM mount, my 540 can be removed in about 30 seconds..... by unthreading 1 power cable, 1 data cable and 2 gimble screws its out.
