LR3 Winch Tray?

Where can I find one like the oem one seen here.

It's an OEM part and should be easy to get. I believe Expedition Exchange sells it w/a winch for around $2000. You can also get a hidden winch tray from Front Runner for a few hundred bucks. The OEM winch tray probably screws up your approach angle, but it sure does look awesome.

highly encourage you to go to an ARB or use the Front Runner setup if you plan to go off road at all. I used to knock out the front panel on my G4 RR just crossing a simple ditch, while my LR3 would go most anywhere...

I'd love to see someone make a steel bumper that used the hidden winch mount idea.

I hate adding almost a foot to the front of the vehicle just to put a winch on. There is no reason to make the bumper stick out any farther than factory.

* Hint Hint to any manufacturers reading this :ylsmoke:

I personally like a stout, forward bumper. In my world, everything is looked at as a weapon. I tire of that old, "approach" angle argument, especially when there's so much overhang in the rear. Ive gone through a lot with the ARB on my DII and it's always, always, always my trailer hitch that drags on the far side of the ditch.

The RMR bumper could be stout I just need to look at in person. Maybe next time I go to Huntsville I will try to stop by RMR and look at it.

On another note I have had both an ARB and RTE front bumper and while my RTE bumper has a better approach angle it is also stronger than the ARB I had for my D1. Another buddy of mine in high school had an ARB on his 01 D2 and when he got an 04 disco he didn't keep the ARB but go an RTE instead because it was considerably more stout.

For an LR3 though... I really liked the Safarigard bumper but it was never really in production.

I have a non-winch bar just like that for th LR3 with factory lights. Just pulled it and the bumper off to put an ARB bumper on. I like the ARB on the LR3.

If anyone wants the bar, let me know. I will make you a deal

Couldn't agree more. I had an ARB (pre 03 bumper) on my white D2 and it bent into the fenders on a side pull. Then had a hidden winch, which looked great but was terrible in the mud and got very dirty all the time. Changed to a L8 bumper which has been the strongest by far. 1/4" plate as opposed to the flimsy sheetmetal of ARB.

my silver D2 came with an ARB bumper (03-04 style) and while it may look visually appealing it has one or two bends in it around the winch and I definitely wouldnt feel comfortable with it in moab or the rubicon.

I'm interested!! I don't know why this turned into a bumper thread. I think after market bumpers are UGLY on the lr3.

come on now! you know the A-frame is completely useless. it's not even necessary for mounting lamps out front.

your energy is better spent going into the other stuff you are planning.
