LR4s, 2010MY or MY11 or MY12?

Hi,

So decided on an LR4 and would like a MY12, but that doesn't leave room for buying the goodies, such as new tires, 18" wheels, etc. A 2011 opens up some more possibilities, but started thinking about a 2010 and the savings. But, I am always leery of a new model year. And, this would be an 80/20 vehicle, with light mods for general overlanding, family trips, hunting/fishing. So I ask you LR4 owners, how have your 2010s treated you? Lots of gremlins to be excises, as with the 2005/2006 LR3?

Thanks,

Brian

I would not hesitate to buy a 2010. The only appreciable difference between all three model years is the software in the touch screen... which is a little better starting with 2012.

I don't personally have one but two guys in the NorCal Rover group with 2010s have had no issues in 40k miles. One is upgrading to a 2012 only to get the rear locking diff. I was looking at them myself and they are holding their value. If you can find one with the HD heavy duty package then you get the rear elec locking diff. If I were you, I would get a used one to have more cash for accessories.

Scott Brady is doing a nice article in Overland Journal about upgrades for the LR4.

Oh yes, I've been following Scott's article very closely. The HD package is like finding a unicorn, haha, especially one that is CPO'd and has the upgraded Logic7.
