I've always wondered how to calculate the proper tire pressure for an LT tire when used in place of a P-metric tire. Attached is what I received after making a query of Discount Tire Direct's support staff. It should allow one to calculate the appropriate pressure when the OEM tire's load rating and the auto manufacturer's recommended pressure are known. With a bit of interpolation, it seems that one might arrive at pressures suitable for various gross weights over each axle. I inquired about any information they might have laying about regarding maximum speeds when intentionally using lower than recommended tire pressures for traction and comfort while off the beaten track, but they did not have that information. I am not a tire expert by any stretch of the imagination, so please use and/or interpolate at your own risk.
