:wings:
Just picked up reasonagle example of a M-416 trailer, but all data plates have gone missing. Is there any way to determine the missing data, ie; date of manufacture, serial number, who manufactured unit, etc.? Any help would be appreciated.

The serial # might be stamped on the frame.

Does your trailer have round fenders? Or 'flat' 3 sided fenders?

Here's some info on where to look on the frame: http://wwiijeepparts.com/Archives/JeepTrailer.html

It's towards the bottom of the page.

Not all the trailers got stamped serial numbers, so you may only be able to narrow down the approximate time frame it was built.

It might help if you could post a picture or two....I have rebult 2 M100s that were manufactured by different companies (Strick and Dunbar) and have found a few minor manufacturing differences that would haelp if you have a "round" fender trailer

M416 Trailer

Have done some searching on this and other web sites and this is what I have found out to date, right ore wrong. Comments would be appreciated.

Trailer is a M-416B1
Approximately 2000 made by Stevens for the Marine Corp to be towed behind the Alum. M422 Jeep. Has the airborne lifting rings, but someone has cut off the jerry can mounts. It would be great to fab some new mounts and bring the unit back to stock.

M-416 id

:Wow1
:I am sort of feeling like a real dummy. More measuring, etc. and I really do not think that my trailer is a M-416B. It has Airlift tiedowns but the front tiedown is centered between the front of the tub and the fender. There is no room to install the 416B's jerry can bracket. It is definately a USMC trailer as you can see the faint outline of a stenciled USMC and a number through the many paint layers. Did the Marines play around with M-416's and field add Airlift ties downs prior to the arrival of the 416B? It is my understanding that the stenciled number is not the trailer's serial number. Is that correct? Again, any help would be appreciated.
