Hey All, Just found the forum so complete newb here. So much info here which is rad. Did a search but could'nt really find what I was looking for. I just bought a M101 to build out. First step is to ditch the axle and wheels and add new 5000lb axle and wheels. Can someone direct me to an axle that will work on this trailer? I have a 2014 Jeep JKU that will pull this trailer.

I just replaced the axle in my M101A2 last weekend. I ordered a dexter 3,500lb axle with electric brakes and ez lube bering caps. I also had them do it with a 3" tube so that I could reuse the lower perches and also continue to use shocks. It was a task thats for sure but had it done in a weekend. Just a heads up if you plan on using stock JKU wheels on the trailer like i did plan on using spacers and make sure the are lug centric. otherwise the wheels won't mount to the axle the hub on the axle is to large. Also FYI if you plan on using the lower spring perches from the original axle they are welded on. I had to cut the welds and clean them up. I didn't re-weld them to the new axle it didn't seem necessary. I have also just finished removing the surge break pintle assy from the tongue of the trailer and welded up a new setup. There are many great builds on this site do some searching and you will find lots of people who have great ideas on how to mod these trailers.

5000lbs axle seems like overkill.
