M101a2 with a truck bed pop up camper?

I tried my hand at the search ****, and couldn't find if anyone tried putting a truck bed pop up style camper in a m101a2 trailer?

I believe it is a 8ft X 5.5 ft bed... I will build a dual battery box and anything else I think it may need in front of the trailer just behind the brake system and between the hand brakes...

But I can find anyone who put one in or if it's worth it..

The other option is build a flip top for the trailer and then put a large roof top tent on that and add a ground annex.

We have dogs and a baby...and dogs...3 large dogs...one is extra large.

The tow vehicle is a Denali suburban and the goal is ghost towns so very moderAte dirt roads...nothing crazy.

I have my m101 setup to hold my FWC eagle when we want to use the Tacoma to explore around and not have to bring the camper with us. The setup works fine in most cases. Bigest dislike that I have is some of the steeper down hill sections and the surge break make for some jerking of the trailer. Maybe one day I'll put electric breaks on it and take care of that issue.

The eagle is designed for a 6' bed so I have room for a tool box up front. Trailer is a tad bit wider than the eagle as well. The wheel wells are a little longer than the truck as well so the rear turn buckles are a tight fit, but it works. There is good room, between the front of the cab over area and the hitch. Which allows for me to tow it with the jeep as well. And there is about 6-8" of clearance between the rear side of the camper and the trailer on each side, which make good storage areas for little things when parked.

Also I have two kids (10 & 7) and a wife, and the camper gets a little snug if we all need to be in there at the same time. Sleeping get is fine, just if we are up and moving.

Here's one that I copied. It works well but there is some windage. You have to trim back the wheel wells. This one was written up in an online magazine, fourwheeler, July 2014? Can't find it anymore.

You'll have to join steel soldiers to see the images. Good luck!

M101A# with a pop up camper

I have a Skamper 60S installed on a M101A3. It works well and I have done a lot of off roading with this setup.
It has lots of storage in the front and on the sides. Added a solar panel to charge the battery.
Adding a front tool box for the battery and locked food storage to keep the Bears out.

I would like to install electric brakes and lower the axle about 4 inches.
Total cost for the setup is $2,200 so far.
