M416: conversion to toyota wheels

I did search!
I found a lot of "swap the axle" replies.

Is it possible to convert the hub and drum to the 6 on 5.5 pattern?
I like having the parking brake functional.

I just barely did this. I messed up and ordered a pair of adapters and didn't catch that they came with 14mm studs. 80series Land cruisers take a 12mm.After emailing back and forth with the supplier they said they don't make one with 6x6.5 12 mm and they claimed you could not swap out the studs. A trip to O'rielly's auto parts and I had 12 new studs that pressed in just fine. i did have to cut an 1/8th inch off the m416 studs to clear the 2 piece adapters. Everything bolted up great and seems to fit fine. The adapters are 2" thick so they add 4" to your width. With the 80 series rims this put the width just about equal to the 80's width.

That said, if you have an m416a1 you can just throw on a standard 10" drum with the right studs and be done. I just wanted to widen her out a little.

this is a thing? it's that easy? I googled "10" brake drum; 6 on 5.5" " and got a lot of trailer brake drums, with bearings, that look pretty different from the M416 stuff....

The normal M416 has a different axle and drum set up than a M416A1 so a simple axle drum replacement may not be possible. For the M416A1 I should have said "3500 lb 10 inch trailer drum". Something like this but with the toyota studs you need. http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hubs-and-Drums/Dexter/84656UC3.html I did not end up going this route but found reference to doing it on several websites.

Honestly, I'm not sure if mine is M416 or M416A1; but maybe the tag on it says? I can sure look!
Is there another way I can tell?
That shows two different sized bearings, I thought the M416 used 4 of the same thing...

That sure would be an easy ting, if that would work...
