M416 Fender Cooking Shelf

Hello all!

I just purchased an awesome M416 trailer that is ready to take the family on adventures! Very excited! I have been eyeing up offroad trailers for over a year, and finally pulled the trigger when an awesome one showed up on my local facebook marketplace.

I am intersted in easy cooking though while camping. I am over cooking my meals from a bag on a rock in a cup while (will definitely keep for the excursions away from the trailer though!). So I was thinking of making a food grade cutting board that was long enough to place on the M416 fender along the driver side of the trailer.

On the side near the front would be where I put the stove hooked up to the propane tank that would be mounted to trailer. The middle would be a good food prep area, and the side near the rear of the trailer would be an collapsable sink that I would eventually (down the road) put in on-demand water. Pump was included in purchase as well as water tank, and water heater. Also thinking of having the table fold in sections for easy storage back in the trailer. Maybe hinged where the sides would just fold underneath to save space length wise in trailer.

I definitely want it to be removable to just put in the back of the trailer when I am done. My initial thought was just attaching it to the fender flare with some rare earth magnets like these on Amazon (Magnets). I would countersink the magnet into the wood so it would sit flat on the fender. I have googled/searched and haven't found anyone doing that, and I am sure there might be a reason, like maybe it would be extremely hard to get off the fender! Or forgetting about the magnets and putting my phone on the table. Just seems like a simple solution instead of mounting attachment points or something for it it to slide in.

Thanks for the advice! I know I will have many more questions as the build continues.

Yes, I want it to extend forward and aft of the fender. I did take a look at that. I guess I am also looking for a trial solution to my needs. If it becomes what I really want, I would go for a full mounting solution. I want something, and would love a full slide out kitchen from the side, but am not sure if it is 100% possible from the M416. It will take some time I guess to fully figure that out. So I thought the magnets would be a solid temporary solution.
