I put in a couple of bids. It seems that the price will be to high once the bidding is over. Its already at 485. Great trailer but its still 40 years old and is yellow. By the time you work on it and get it to a newer conditon, you could buy a newer one. I sometimes wonder if the bidding gets driven up on purpose.

Appears to be in pretty good shape, so I'd expect the price will continue to go up. IMO, bidding goes up because an unmolested version is hard to find < $1,000. If you check CL (see here for an example) you often find plenty for sale, but all for a fair amount of money. As discussed here, I think things like this go for a premium in the northeast becasue they don't last long, and when the do pop up, sellers know they can get a premium. An M416 I bid on from the GSA auction site went for > $600 in similar or better condition, but with no wheels/tires. My M100 went for $390, and I've spent more than I'd care to add up suspension parts alone, and I still have a tub that needs attention. I think any solid M416 that doesn't need much more than prep and paint is a decent find under $1,000. It may be older, but considering the strength of the frame and thickness of the tub, you'd spend more for less with a new trailer.

I just got back from looking at it. It has some surface rust, but it is in great condition. I want that thing bad. I first noticed it out there last year when I was at training. They didn't even know it was out there when I found it. Since the base closed last year, stuff was just left around in various places.
