M416: post your lid pics

As title says I was looking to start a thread where all those who have capped their m416 or similiar can provide pic (outside/inside) and details of construction. Since this besides the tailgate is one of the more popular mods for these trailers. This should greatly help those who like me are in process of getting quotes for a lid.

I been through most build threads, from here and that i could find from google. Not many people state their materials used in construction(gauge/diameter/quanity), I'm hoping with multiple people supplying their data, we can have a generic buildout that will be easier for assembling quotes from... :)

Thanks for all assistance,
Travis

Neither, i believe of your options. I am looking to have a lid built, I just recently purchased a m416. I have reviewed all the build threads, and am looking to condense this specific part of the build as a base of information for present and future builders... does this make better sense?

I just emailed off a family friend for a quote and realized though I have a couple dozen pictures of various setups. (No real details such as the ribs are 2" square stock and the skin is 16 gauge. It stands 7 inches tall above edge of trailer.) So for my build I'm depending on his quote, based on his years of fabricating experience. He has custom built chassis for racing 4 wheelers, so though qualified I want my lid strong enough for eventual RTT and want to make sure design is sufficiently braced.

I will have to agree with Stuart. I went thru all the links i could find on lids and talked to local builders and Sierra 4x4. I got it down to them and a local builder, each having features I liked.

I finally flew out to Reno and drove to Gardnerville, NV and visited with Chris and his wife @ Sierra 4x4. I looked at the lid in detail and compared it to all the others I had seen (2 others in person).

Chris builds a top quality lid that is a perfect fit on a M416. Any areas that do not fit are the fault of the M416 in the way of damaged rails and tubs. His product is 1" square tube frame with 16 gauge steel skin. Lid weight is about 105 lbs and will hold about 1000 lbs of weight if distributed over top. RTT's are no problem. He has been building these lids and trailers for a few years now and had both in the shop the day I was there.

Based on his work quality and the great price, I have ordered one as well.
