MacGPS Pro v8 has just been released. Several significant upgrades including kml export for Google Earth and the ability to link almost anything to waypoints (photos, websites etc). They have also allowed use of maps in many different formats (jpg, pdf etc) where the old version only allowed pict.

In a day of using it I have discovered some file management bugs, which I reported. Further updates as I play with it more.

How did you find this? Mine still seems to want to make them all pict files. Or are you importing jpg, pdf and such to pict?

I was just quoting their web site:

Works with all types of maps—even those you scan in yourself—in the most popular file formats, including GeoTIFF, JPG, PDF, ECW and BSB.

I haven't actually tried that feature yet, but I was really looking forward to it. I hope it works as stated!

Looks like 'Open' won't work. You have to use 'Import raster map or chart . . ' in the file menu. This allows jpg and png which are the only ones I've tried so far. It immediately converts the pics to pict because MacGPS PRo stores the cal data in the pict file. So not really any different from before when I used photoshop to convert to pict before import.
