Magellan Help

I have an old Crossover that died a while ago. I called Magellan about it and they do not service the unit (way out of warranty) but will partially credit me towards a different unit. I do not want another Crossover since they seem to be trouble-plagued.

I just wondered if anyone had a suggestion as to what current Magellan model they offer would be capable of being used offroad. I had the Roadmate 2200T in mind but it is no longer available through them (it is still available through the outlet but they don't credit me there).

If there isn't anything that really will work for that I will just get a road unit for the wife to use.

If I had my way I would make them give me credit towards a Garmin (they know what customer service is there)!

If you're set on Magellan, consider getting an Xplorist series. I use the XL.

If you're not set on Magellan, consider the Delorme PN-40. This, cobined with their outstanding Topo software, is tough to beat. I use this software and create waypoints to upload to my Xplorist XL.

I would have already switched to the PN-40, except that I really like the screen on my current GPS. Otherwise, I think the overall Delorme package is miles ahead of Magellan.

Magellan will only credit me for the Magellan. I would love a PN-40. I have a Garmin Etrex Legend I use most of the time.
