Major Stalling Problem In Water

(My Disco is a 2000 Model)

So, it's raining like hell around here right now, and some of the roads hold water. Nothing "deep" but plenty enough to shoot water up in the air a ways and slow you down a little.

This morning as I was coming down one of those roads on the way to work I encountered a stalling problem. To the point where the Disco had no power to move untill it cleared up. No flashing SES light, just stalling to below normal idle RPM's. What is getting wet, and what do I need to look for to fix this issue?

Thanks-

Not enough information. You'll never solve this without some data from the ECU. Could be anything.

I had a similar problem on my '98. It was the wiring to the CKPS. The weatherproofing on the wires to it become brittle and will fail on wet days. You can see the wiring along the front driver side wheel well. Easy to find and easy to fix, so I'd start there. Then test and and change your ingnition wires, if needed.

Or it could be your coils, coil pack wiring, spark plugs, MAF, MAF wiring, fuel injector wiring, fuel pump wiring, TPS or wiring, IAS or wiring, or camshaft position sensor or wiring, transmission range sensor or wiring, transmission control wiring...

In my case, it was because the transmission was done.

I'd start with plug wire's...then move past that. Does it shutdown or stumble? a ckps sensors would cause the engine to cut out...

the lowest doodad to the road that effects sparks..........

crankshaft position sensor , almost never throws a code even when toast

I'd agree with that also. My DI will spit and sputter but not throw a code when encountering deeper water. I really should look at it someday before it completely craps out on me in the middle of a deep puddle. :snorkel:
