I'm just back from a trip to Southeast Oregon. This wouldn't be worth any mention except that the place is a lot prettier than the norm . . . the wet winter and spring have got the whole place a lot greener than is usual. What with the snow-capped mountains, blue water on the dry lakes and the green hillsides, it was all pretty cool.
Took the Sprinter and towed the Samurai. (FWIW, the Samurai tows like it's not there and is incredibly easy to hook up, since you can jockey it back and forth by hand. And no brakes necessary, at least with the Sprinter.)
Spent a day on the east edge of the Steens, heading south down to Fields. The Alvord Desert is still pretty wet; it'll be a while before anyone will be driving on the playa.
Then went back up through Fields and Frenchglen, camped, and went the next day to Lakeview via Riley, Wagontire and Valley Falls. Camped and started to home through Silverlake to LaPine and north to Sisters. Nice scenery all the way, and fine weather except for the occasional 30 knots of headwind.
All in all, the state looked real purdy and the Tourism Commission would be mighty proud.
