Handle missing from headlight switch

That right there is the dealbreaker for me.

MAN! What a MAN!

I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it I want it!

Anybody here willing to finance it for me?

Good thing my soul is secured. I'd sell it in a heartbeat right now.

Once the seller modified the description and said a wench wasn't included I decided not to bid.

Top speed is 67mph. Cruises as 57mph. According to the seller.

Wow! A 1986 vehicle with 6785 miles? Must be an interesting story here. Tires are almost new, but are 22 years old. You'd spend $15,000 replacing the tires!

Here's one of the photos from the ad

A photo of the other side of the truck shows the word "Fire" in big red letters on the cab door, so I assume the truck was in the inventory of some fire fighting company at one time. I like the way they de-commissioned the truck by spraying black paint over the company name.

Don't tell Joaquin Suave about this, OK?

Former Military Wrecker bought by the Mississippi Forestry Commission which removed the wrecker and added the water tank. Too big for them according to the seller

I wonder how difficult it would be to get license plates for this beast. Looks like it needs reflectors and marker lights, at least. If it can cruise at 55, it would be highway legal.

Unless I'm mistaken, that beast is about 98.5 inches wide. According to this, The max width on 'designated' highways is 102". but otherwise it's 96"...

So does that mean that on 'undesignated' highways, you'd need permits and pilot cars?

What's a 'designated' highway, anyway?

:Wow1: Is that thing really a 17 liter V10... as in ten 1.7 liter cylinders... as in each cylinder has a greater displacement than all 4 cylinders combined of say, a Yaris?! I wonder what kind of torque that thing puts out!

tried to find information on the engine, but not much luck. i gather it's either an om403 or om423, that's as far as i got. intriguing.

You might try shooting a PM to member egn. It may take a while to get an answer, since he could be out in the boonies in his MAN KAT I camper rig....

But he knows a lot about MAN KATs. Here's a thread about his rig, in case you haven't seen it.

I haven't seen any mention in previous threads on MAN trucks that they used Mercedes engines. The wikipedia site on MAN also doesn't mention it. The early ones were air cooled.
I asked the seller if there were any pictures of the engine. No reply yet.

I can send you a headlight switch for a few $. :sombrero:

@haven:
Used tyres from the army can be got much cheaper.

@Lynn:
If your large RVs are allowed to drive on most roads, this one should be allowed too. Most of the MAN military trucks like mine are about 98" wide.

@WhereTheHellIsJames:
This should be a MAN M1002 type vehicle:

I am pretty sure that it uses an MAN engine and not Mercedes if it is still original.
