448.42 443.42 Pinal Peak 103.5

This allows me to manually enter repeaters fairly quickly since I don't have to change any settings once the Transmitter output, CTCCS mode and PL tone have been entered. Once that group is complete, set the next PL tone and cont. programming. Here's what seems to be working for me...

Select the VFO mode.

Select the transmitter power desired.

Set the CTCCS for "ENC" via the Tone/Rev button. Once set, the radio will stay in the "ENC" mode.

Press the "Band/Set" button for approx 1/2 second to get into the set mode. Dial to menu #44, press the Band/Set button again, select the PL Tone for the first group of freq's. Press Band/Set again to enter the PL Tone.

In the VFO mode enter the freq on the mike key pad.

Press the V\M(MW) key to enter the freq and modes into memory. Turn the dial to select a memory number, press the V\M(MW) key again to select that location.

Does anyone else have any other tips\hints for manual input? Please post'm up!

How you layout your frequencies is pretty much what works for you. I like to "bank" mine, I have the frequencies I use the most in one group, then anouther group has a different set. Group 1 is what I use when going to and from work, group 2 is if I am heading twards one city, group 3 another, group 4 is for weather spotter freq, group 5 ARES and on and on.

What makes sense is best. Some like names, some like numbers. There has yet to be a good mobile that shows both well. Some only do one or the other or they show one large and one micro small that can be read while driving.

Make sure you include the calling channels and local simplex into your channel assignments.

I've not used the memory banks yet - may have to look into that. The radio has a ton of storage available...

So far I've been assigning the freq's numerically by band: 2M repeaters on 1 thru 39, 70CM repeaters 40 thru 79, and simplex on 80 and above. Got the next 10 done on my half hour lunch today...

I put some important ones (146.520, etc.) at memory locations like '111' so that it's easy to punch in. I use banks, too. I have Colorado Connected repeaters in one bank, so that I can scan them when in the backcountry because some places reach repeaters that you'd not expect and the ones you think would work don't.
