Map Store (International difficult to locate maps)?

Does anybody know a good contact, store, etc. for getting maps? Particularly international maps? I have found in the pst that generally good quality detailed area maps are available locally from geological survey/land control government services. However, in planning trips it is often best to get these maps before going. In a lot of countries these maps can be very hard to get outside the country (without going to the office...). Anybody have a company or somebody they use to get maps?

I've bought many international maps from a place here in Seattle called Metskers Maps - http://www.metskers.com

From their website:

From Angola to Zimbabwe...we stock hundreds of maps of Africa including individual countries and cities call 800.727.4430 if you don't see it here!

Depends where you are looking but I have found Amazon's European sites offer better maps than the US site. You can get to them from links at the bottom of Amazon's page.

Thanks,
These have a better selection but still not have much in the way of 1:50,000 geological survey maps. I guess in a lot of countries there isn't enough demand. And I know from my experience in Namibia you had to drive to the capital to get these. No ordering or anything even from within the country. I was just hoping somebody knew of a company that would kind of act as a broker and locate, acquire these. I guess it is best to find somebody on the inside. The problem is if you don't know what is available it is hard to ask for it...
