Mastoora, Saudi Arabia

Here are a few pictures of a trip we took earlier in 2010 to the dunes at Mastoora, which is about an hour's drive north of Jeddah. It was only a day trip, with a bbq thrown in at the end, before we headed back at sunset.

Boozewz,

Thanks for the trip post. I grew up on the other side of Arabia in Dhahran and yes my parents worked for Aramco. They ignited a passion for travel that can not be extinguished.

My Dad started transferring all the old slides into digital form a while back, here are some oldies but goodies for a fellow expat.

Great images. Lunch looked nice too.

Thanks.....nothing beats a good bbq at the end of a great day off roading. In some cases we look forward to that more than being behind the wheel:chef: We've had a few cook offs, with some interesting receipes that are not fit for posting!

Awesome collection Shiryas....especially some old school '80s Suburbans...Those trucks can still be found running around town these days. Judging by the name of each picture, it seems your parents travelled pretty much all over the country! Times have changed a bit since then, and I would have loved to have explored our country back in the day, when life was simpler and there were fewer tarred roads...

Neat pics, everyone. My dad was stationed in Dhahran in 1956-1957. No pics, though, as in "if there aren't any pics, it didn't happen." Very cool scenery.

Very cool. Don't see many reports from out there. Cool to see images other then in Lawrence of Arabia. :)

Thanks for sharing.
