Matching hubs on Trailer Axles?

I imagin this subect has been discussed a few times before, but I could not find exactly what I was looking for in the search, so...

What is the BEST way or source to obtain new trailer axles (am starting a few trailer projects and want to put a new axle under an existing trailer) with hubs & lug patterns that match the tow vehicle?

I actually need to do two trailers, one with Land Rover hubs to match the bolt pattern on my 97 Disco 1, and the other with 8-lug hubs to match my 89 Dodge Cummins and a future Suburban 2500.

These are both single axle trailers. :coffeedrink:

I think people will chip in with advise on purchasing from online vendors for the axles.

A couple of points.

The 8 lug patterns are not available for axles rated lower than 5000 lbs i.e. the 1500 lb and 3500 lb rated axles only come in 5 on 4.5, 5 on 5, 5 on 5.5, 6 on 5.5.

Land Rover bolt patterns are not available for trailer axles in North America. You would have to have an axle made with a 5 bolt pattern and then have adapters made going to the 5 on 6.5 pattern.

I don't know of any off the shelf Land Rover adapters, you would have to have them custom made. When we have them made we provide the Land Rover wheel studs that need to be pressed in.

Thanks for the reply - sounds like it will be a lot easier to get the axle for the 8-lug trailer than to come up with a solution to the Land Rover trailer predicament.

I don’t mind going to a 5000lb rated axle to get the 8-lug pattern.:coffeedrink:

I do not know of anyone here in VA who could make respectable Land Rover adapters for me to use.

If you have problems with the Land Rover adapters we can have some made for you and ship them to you. You are going to need to do some pre planning to get the adapters made correctly. Most of it involves knowing the width of your rims, your back spacing and the clearance you have from the mounting surface of the rim back toward the trailer.
