For those of you unfortunate enough to be on the East Coast like myself, who are getting tired of seeing all these posts about wheeling in Arizona, and pictures from Arizona and Utah are making you insanely jealous, here's your chance to get off the computer for a weekend and play around with some trucks!
The Northeast Import Off-Road Association (NIORA) is holding its Third Annual Spring Run the weekend of May 5-6 at Rausch Creek Off-Road Park in Joliet, PA (Near Tremont, about 25-30 minutes North of Harrisburg, 40-45 minutes South of Hazleton, right off I-81).
Rausch Creek has a lot to offer for all shapes and sizes of vehicles from simple trails through the woods, to a large glacial deposit of large (3-5 foot) boulders! RC is open to 4WD Trucks and SUVs only (sorry, no ATVs or dirtbikes). Camping will be at the park, and is included in your daily admission.
Plan on a Saturday trail run, with Sunday wheeling optional. Camping at the park is optional, but the local campground is, well, um...horrible. The camping at the park is primitive only, but there are porta-johns. There are stores and gas stations about 3-4 miles from the park, including some fast food type places (a Quizno's and a Pizza Hut in a truck stop at Exit 104).
Click on the above link to NIORA for the latest details and developments, and for more information about Rausch Creek - Click Here. I hope to see some of you out there.
