Mercedes/Nissan Pickup???

I'm sorry, but that seems like a terrible idea. Not so much because it would be "beneath" Mercedes to make a pickup truck- they already do with the Gelandewagen series. But because Nissan and Mercedes seem like an improbable match, not only in engineering styles (go look under the hood of my W124 and then my Pathfinder to see) but in general corporate ladders/superiority complexes. Chrysler and MB was a combo from hell, Nissan could only be worse, especially considering the Peugot influence at Nissan. Nissan, Infiniti, and Peugot should just keep to themselves, or at least go along with somewhat similar companies like Honda or Subaru.

This also runs into my point that apparently Toyota and Nissan don't understand- the 1/2 ton pickup market is absolutely DOMINATED by the Big Three. Not just because they have been making them for so long, but because they truly build the best full size pickups IMO, and have by far the greatest profit margin there- it's a golden goose that they won't let go. Every mark has a luxury pickup- Ram Longhorn (my fave), Ford King Ranch/Platinum, Chevy LTZ, GMC Denali. All of those are extremely luxurious, extremely capable trucks, which are honed to a point of almost Porsche pureness for their market. The Big Three know what they're doing, and I believe anyone that tries to get in the way, even Mercedes, will be squashed. Look at the Tundra- solid specs, good reliability, the right size, but it just doesn't sell. It is outclassed, and when people think "pickup" in the US, they usually think of Bald Eagles, American Flags, Apple Pie, and a white F-150 or red Silverado. (Or the weirder of us think Dodge, like me :) ) It's a losing proposition right now, Nissan, Toyota, and Honda, should go after the compact pickup market, that's where aging models and high price can be capitalized upon.
