Minimalist ExPo 4runner

Went for a mountain drive yesterday to break in (or break off) everything not working on my 1991 4runner. Now, I have some questions:

-- Tooth-jarring shocks. How can I repair/replace to make them strong, yet comfortable, and what should I be looking for?
-- Best, in your opinion, heavy ply 30x10.5x15 tires. Our rocks are like razors. Our mud is not normally too sticky.
-- Soundproofing. Again, ruined me with new domestics.
-- Realistic purpose of a second battery.
-- Building a rig around a kid's carseat.

The truck has 368,000km on a second engine. Not sure how much on the engine. 3.0 IFS, not looking to change anything there.

-- Shocks--I'd go either OEM or I've heard good things about Tokico Trekmasters. Since you're running stock size tires, I'm assuming you're not looking for a lift.
-- I've always had good luck with BFG. I personally run BFG KO's, but if you're in mud, maybe the Mud Terrains would be better for you.
-- Dynomat or similar products can be had for fairly cheap these days.
-- Don't know what you're asking about the last two.

i will add to what p nut said...

but i went with ironman shocks.

i used the vendor here on expo... camel4x4.

i also got their rear springs for the rear.

i have an '88 4runner.

the rear springs gave me a lift and i had to use ball joint spacers to get the front end a little closer to the rears.
