yes this seems like a really good deal...how easy it it to remove the box...and can these be converted to SRW? I have been looking at financing a new Quigley from the local dealer but this would save a load

If it's attached in the usual manner, remove a few U-bolts, cut some wires and jack it up off the truck. What's the value of a used box like that? $1500-2000?

hmm... this would make a better toy hauler than my van.

How do these perform at 75 mph?

Yeah, with larger tires, it would reach a higher speed. It's not that it lacks power at high speed, it's just governed at a certain rpm and once you reach it, that's it. Mine has a 3.9l engine. I think the one which is the topic of this thread has the 4.9L engine. Dont know what the the horsepower and torque differences are.
I'm happy with mine and don't feel a need for higher speed. That could be because my Wanderlodge, built in the years of 55mph speed limits, tops out at 65 or 66mph so 68mph is flying:)

Thanks a bunch for the link!! I'm the lucky new owner.
That's a good deal, especially with that mileage.

Kerry is right. The truck is in outstanding condition. Lightly used by a furniture company to deliver locally, so very low mileage, and not abused like a lot that were used as snowplows or dump trucks. The seller was a great guy. He drove an hour each way in the snow to pick me when my airline flight did not make it's connection. It was his buddy's truck, as he ran a Towing company, and the frosting on the cake is he had a dealer's license so no problems getting a temporary Colorado plate for the trip home. 1350 miles without a problem, ran smooth, more comfortable then I thought it would be (12 hours on day one, 14 hours on day two). Cruised between 50 to 60 mph, with some 60 to 65 mph, averaging 12.2 mpg (high box and high winds a lot of the time). Started off in the snow (yea for 4x4), and I even used the air conditioning (I did not think to ever ask if it had A/C), and it blew ice cold in some hot weather I encountered.

I plan on lowering the box's roof by 14 inches and dropping it 6 inches lower on the frame. I will still have 6' 6” headroom inside.
Yep, a great toy hauler, it even has a 1 ton liftgate. I bought a motorcycle on the way home, and I can't tell you how nice it is to load using a liftgate. No ramps, no "is this going to fall off", just hydraulics at its best.
Kerry has it right, you will not see 75 mph with stock (31 inch) tires. I topped out at 68 mph at 3200 rpm (redline is 3500), but without a EGT gauge and diesel at $3.49 to $3.80 a gallon, I was happy around 55 mph. No problems in high winds, it was crazy stable, even with snow on the road. It pulled the grades including Donner Summit without a hick-up, and no need to down shift. O-yea, and the exhaust brake on these trucks are great. Another feature I did not think to ask about. But after this trip, I don't see how I could live without one.

I'll be doing a full write-up, and ‘build log' over in the Mitsubishi Heavy Truck section.
Saline, thanks again for the link.
