Modifying older FWC to fit newer trucks

Are there any articles about making modifications to an older FWC so it will fit the newer narrow bed trucks?
It seems there are alot of good deals on the older ones out there.
Right now I have a older 8' Palomino that I put into my short bed truck.
I want to upgrade but just don't want to spend alot of money.

There is certainly a price difference between the pre 90 FWC's and post 90 vintage due to width requirements. Over at Wander the West there are a couple articles/posts about narrowing the step and hence the width to fit newer vehicles. If you're not already in the know, Wander the West is kinda cult central for FWC campers, though this forum is a close second.

Good luck with your decision.

I think the easiest fix would be to flat bed your truck and add side boxes to fill the gap between the camper sides and the flat bed. I can't imagine that altering the "frame" of any camper is going to be cost effective.

If you're handy enough to consider such a major camper alteration, some custom fit side boxes would be better looking than "will fits".

I figured it wouldn't be feasible. I am trying to keep my eye out for a Hawk that would fir in my truck, but they don't come up very often.
