MojaveMike's 2005 4Runner 4x4 Supercharged

MojaveMike

Man of the Mojave
Well, this is my 2005 4runner 4x4 SE that I have had since late 2010. My wife bought this while I was deployed and I have been putting work into it since I got back. This is my second 4Runner and I really like how it has turned out. I have built it for my off-road expeditions so that it will get me where ever I want to go and be able to sustain myself for days. It has been a great vehicle to me.

Front Runner Outfitters LC 100 Rack

1. Front Runner Outfitters Roof Rack
So, after a failed attempt to build my own platform rack. I decided to go with the one from Front Runner Outfitters in Burbank, CA.

I purchased the one for the Landcruiser 100 series for around $1300

It uses two tracks that I lined up the 2 rear holes and drilled in 2 new ones for the front. Then lined up the 6 feet and put on the rack. It mounted right up and is of great quality. Infact front runner says that it is rated to carry up to 300kg/660 lbs*

DIY Drawers with roller top for a fridge

I built the little one with a roller top. I still want to do some black plastic trim on the front. I need to buy a handle for the little one. I also ordered a set of 36" 500lb sliders after the flimsy ones i bought at the store stripped. All together it was $85 for the wood and about $40 for supplies. I am by no means a carpenter, but I like the way they turned out.

I used two large sheets of ply-wood $42 each measured them out into the dimensions I wanted

I built a roller top on to the top of the box. Originally I put the sliders on the open top, but soon figures out that closing the box and mounting the roller top board on to that worked best. I had to go back and buy better HD sliders for the weight of the fridge.

I them carpeted everything with some indoor/outdoor gray carpet.

This is my hitch swing away tire carrier from WILCO/Tiregate. They retail for around $800. I added the hi-lift and a dual can carrier from that seems to be holding up after numerous trips. It wiggles a little if you, but is very sturdy. I like it so far and it has held up to the task.

I trimmed about 1/2 inch off the hitch receiver to move the swing gate closer to the bumper. I also drilled a new cross hole in it.

It sits closer and I got some of my departure angle back, which it only scraped a few times before this.

It still has a good bit of room in between the hatch and the carrier. I think I am going to get some flat fuel cans to fit in there.

Icon Suspension S2 Modular Dual Shock Kit

Back in April I went all out and bought a Icon RR Extended travel Coil over set up with a (then new) Secondary shock kit which uses a 2.5 RR shock and mounts to the OEM LCA. I picked them up from Metaltech4x4 during their 20% off Icon sale. I also added on a set of piggyback 2.5's for the rear.

URD Supercharger kit MkI

So, back in August I got a birthday present (for myself) of a URD supercharger kit

Its running like a champ...

So everything went on pretty easy.

1. I installed the cooling system first. I had a little trouble fitting up the radiator for the intercooler because of the SW bumper got in the way. I wound up mounting the Bosch water pump under the passenger headlight on the body. And running the hoses and reservoir which was easy.

2. Then the oil system went on which consist of the reservoir and filter placed in line before the inlet. Then off the outlet I put hooked it up to the cooler and routed it back to the reservoir.

3. Once that was done I wired in the 7th Injector and performance control system. I went slow with the fuel pressure regulator and fuel fittings and got it right the first time. I made sure to oil up the o ring too. For the harness it was pretty to connect it all and I recommend buying th plug and play harness from URD if the kit doesn't have it. Mine used the E model if I recall correctly.

4. The intercooler was pretty easy to set up. I had to remove my spare battery to fit up the charge pipes and intake pipes, so I don't know what to do about that.

5. I plumbed the hoses for the boost gauge and BOV.
