Montero SR Rear Locker Air Pump

My Montero SR's air pump for the rear locker is making awkward noises and not providing enough pressure. Is there an alternative pump out there I could install until I find an oem one?

You can use any compressor but you have to regulate the pressure down. I don't recall the oem psi rating but you can actuate the locker by blowing into the hose so it's not very high. If you use an off the shelf compressor you may damage things if the pressure's too high.:ylsmoke:

Check www.car-part.com for a used oem replacement. It's an association of Salvage Yards and shows their current on-hand stock.:)

I think you're making this a lot harder than it is. Just go to your local auto salvage yard and find the compressor on another Montero and pull it. Cost should be less than $20 and a few minutes of work.

Alternatively, get on car-part.com and find it there. It won't list it directly so you'll have to find out who has 94-96 SR's and call to check for the compressor.
