Monty is not invincible.... or is it ;)

So last night I had the sudden urge to purchase milk and cigs (I know milk is full of sugar and is bad for you, but hey I'm hooked). Here in Austin it had just rained and a huge puddle forms near my neighborhood's access to the highway. So like the dumb teenager I gunned it through, after enjoying the thrill of having a windshield full of dirty water, I decided it wasn't enough. As I proceeded to make my turn onto the frontage with wet tires I gunned it, because there is no better thrill an powersliding a 3ton truck. When I put my foot down the engine died... :Wow1: I pooped the hood and of course all the electronics were soaked :snorkel: After about 10 min of drying the distributor with a towel I was able to limp home. Today in all her glory she started like a queen :sombrero: So yes, montys are invincible... after drying haha

(Note the photo is from a different muding trip, ironically it didn't stall through that)

That's cool. I usually do things like that during the rainy season but unlike you I don't recall ever having an issue with my gen I's or my current gen II...

That said, no matter what rig, I've learned that electronics are not invincible to exposure to water. ;)

I am a little uneasy about the alternator location on the Gen2 (don't remember if it's in the same place on the 6G72).

Montero doesn't weigh 3 tons, come on now. :Wow1: My '68 Buick Gran Sport barely tipped 4200 pounds. My '77 Dodge 1-ton 4x4 dually with a walk-in service body and 104 gallons of fuel weighed in at 6800 pounds.

WD40 is your friend with a wet distributor.

If I recall correctly, it was high up on the right side of the engine, where it should be. My brother's ex girlfriend had a Gen 1; I spent a few moments poking around the hood. But I'm going on 12+ years of memory.
