More Photos of this Roof Rack: Really Sweet Set-up

Hello-

I'm getting ready to pickup an A.R.E shell for my vehicle and was browsing through their photos when I came across this red Tacoma with its custom rack.

I remember seeing some other photos of it here before and have been using the "Search" function to find them with no luck. I'm wondering if any of you Exp. Portal "locals" remember it as well- as I recall the guy made these himself and I think they're aluminum. I want to have some thing similar to do this done to my truck.

Any help with more photos of the rack would be great.

A lot of guys have made similar racks for their trucks, i don't know about that specific one though.
What do you want to haul? This is my particular setup.

I can remove the basket and add other attachments to the bars for bikes or whatever. I was easy to make and is really pretty light weight.

'm gathering all the photos I can find of "wrap-around" racks like yours - mine needs to go around a shell and I need to be able to climb up on top of it to load gear (mostly 10 - 12' stand up paddle boards- I teach lessons and lead tours down in Baja on them).

Also will carry fuel cans, possible spare tire and a small wooden dory (approx. 160lbs) so it'd need to be wide enough to hold gunwales.

I'm going to have it made of aluminum- I live near the beach and even powdercoated lumber racks get eaten up.

Here's what i fabbed up. Made of 1 1/4 steel tubing, powder coated with a Bajarack FJ cruiser rack on top.

With the shell removed. You can see the step at the bedrail height and the hi lift mount.

I wanted it snug to the shell

Funny- your rack is one that I'd already put into a little folder on my desktop that I'm going to take to the fab guy who I'm going to use to build my rack- I really like how tight it is to your shell... that thing's SWEET.

And that's the same A.R.E shell that I'm going to be buying (except I've got an '07 longbed 4x4 Tundra- so it's a bit bigger).
