I want to start getting stuff together for a motor swap..putting either a 6.0 LQ4/LQ9 or LM7 (5.3) into my truck either way they all take the same mounting and all that. I just need to know where to get motor mounts/ plates/adapters for a lifted 1988 suburban 4x4...ill be usng a chevy small block crossmember from ORD

also like a 2nd opinion on headers.. i think, Long tube F-body headers (1998-02) will work?...exaust tubing will all be custom of course

should bolt right in. buy the heavy duty motor mounts from ORD as well. best part about GM is they dont change to much in the adapters motor mounts area. if you are concerned phone there office. they are very knowladgable and love to help.

Dont spend money where you dont have to. You are going to run into your own challenges swapping the LS into the truck, mostly, wiring, and fuel pressure.

I dont remember on the motor mounts...... the SBC to LS is pretty popular, so, if you look, there should be something out there, bolt it....

I wouldnt bother with headers, at least long tube. Some shorties if you're insistant. Modern manifolds on these motors are pretty good... heck, you might even be able to find some from a late F body instead of the cast iron truck manifolds. Besides, with headers, you will get header leaks............. and those are a PITA...

Regardless, go with the truck engines, they have plenty of grunt.... I have the 6.0 in my work van, and that is heavy..... I get about 13mpg.... but, have no lack for power....

I believe in planning it out... BUT, one lesson, that I wish I had believed at your age... K.I.S.S.... Keep It Simple Stupid. That isnt a slam... just a phrase. Try not to put parts on that you cant source at any auto parts store, etc....

I think the LS swap is a much simpler, idea.... Just, try to keep it simple, and it will last you a long time...

Just my 2 cents....

No more Cummins Corey?

I am not a fan of the CK5 website (or pirate4x4 for that matter) but between ls1truck.com and 67-72chevytrucks.com you will find more than enough info for a late model LS swap into an old GM truck.
