Mounting a Engel question

Time to finally mount the Engel 45. I have a 8" Tuffy drawer and am mounting the fridge on top. The situation is that in my TJ i can't get the basket out for loading and cleaning.

Here's the question:
Have any or you guys mounted a fridge slide at a slight (5 - 10 deg ) angle? This way as it slides out it will be a bit lower. Also will be better for Carolyn to get into. Seems like it shouldn't be a problem as the jeep pulls bigger angles all the time. How strong is the slide latch?

Thanks for the help

If you're talking about the slide that Engel makes/offers, then it's solid, very solid. It will lock closed and lock open (all the way out) too. I don't know that I'd recommend going beyond 10 degrees, as you have to be careful with it sliding out at you. Remember, these weigh approx 57lbs empty and probably closer to 80 or even 90lbs when full. So, when you release it, you'll want to hold on to it and lower it into the fully-extended position slowly.

That being said, it's not uncommon, even without having a pre-built 10 degree angle, to have the fridge at an angle anyway due to terrain and where you park.

You can get it here; plus, if you have any questions the owners will gladly offer any guidance they can.

Good luck with the build.

Post pics when you're done.

Aw man, I'm going to be rather useless because I don't know the name, don't have a photo, and don't remember where the thread is . . . but there is a fridge slide out there somewhere that slides outward, then drops 8" - 10" for precisely this circumstance. Even better than mounting the regular slide at an angle.

Someone help me, pweeze? Anyone recall this thing?

**EDIT***
Ha! found it. Drop Slide
