Mounting a Yaesu 2800M 2M in a 1998 Taco

Opted for a very easy mount - all I lost were the two 12V power outlets.

Removed the shifter cover, sawed off a small piece of plastic behind the power outlets, and cut/bent a metal mounting tab.

Mounted the radio to the shifter cover, mounted the mike clip the the dash, and refitted the trim piece where the outlets used to be. Took me about 2 hours total.

Still need to replace a firewall grommet where I ran the power thru the fire wall - the old one disintigrated trying to remove it.

Still not sure what I'm gonna do with the mag mount antenna. May run the cable thru one of the grommets behind the cab, it's going out thru the Xtra cab window right now. Don't like it tho...

Nice job Mark. That little Tacoma is awesome... Just a matter of time until the crawler is in the "for sale" section.

Looking good Mark! We might have to switch your Screen name to Baja Taco II soon! :victory:

Scott, the thought of selling the BPOS has crossed my mind more than once. But, it's payed for...
Looking forward to getting the licencing outta the way, and seeing what the radio will do!

:xxrotflma Wil! I've sure from a vast distance there "might" be some confusion, but at anything under a mile, the BT machine is obviously the penultimate '98 Taco.

******** on the BT comments

Mark, that was fast! Looks like the radio will get superb air circulation the way you did it too! Very cool! (literally)

There is some chatter in that little box waiting to get out! :box: The test will be here before you know it.
