Mounting commercial tires on 22.5" wheels

I have been struggling for hours and am having a heck of a time mounting these tires. I tried the harbor freight manual tire mounter, and found it to be not much help.
I picked up a few tire irons (30") from Tractor Supply Co, along with a pipe to give me the leverage of a 4' tire iron.

I can get the first bead on, then about 80% of the second bead.

Is there a trick to these?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My truck's out of commission until I can get these new tires on.

Thanks,
Carl

Are you using a bead lubricant? Also try to get the bead opposite where you are working down into the deeper portion of the rim. You may have to push the bead on the other side of the tire out of the grove. I usually have somebody stand on the sidewall it to keep that portion of the bead in the grove. Otherwise I kneel on it.

If it is any consolation the garage where I normally bring my large truck tires to be mounted and dismounted has three staff people to do the job. Two working the tire irons and one standing on the tire sidewall.

I am using bead lubricant.
I've tried standing and kneeling on the tire, nothing seems to work.

I can always have them mounted for $50 a tire, but I'd really like to be able to do this myself, in case I'm stuck somewhere where I can't have a shop do it for me.

Thanks for any help.

straddle the rim on the last bead but do not step on the rim. as you get the bead on the rim move your feet to that area till you have the last little bit left then pry that onto the rim. as your seating the rim you want to follow your progress with both feet. you want your feet on the sidewall as close to the bead as possible during all this. sometimes it helps if you have a hammer handy to help tap the last little bit onto the rim. use lots of lube and good luck.

there is a bit of an art to this but i do them myself w/o much trouble. if you were local i'd be happy to show you the "technique". you want the second bead in that deep trough in the rim, if you dont have a trough you should have a deeper steeper side, thats the side you want to work on and get that bead in it.

if you haven't figured it out already, you must have the drop center on the wrong side. 22.5's mount pretty easily. 22.5's have the drop center on the opposite side of the hub. you want something hard to try, grab a 14ply 19.5. if you would like more specific instruction, PM me and i'll try and walk you through it.
