thanks for all the questions and comments guys!
i think with the 33's it looked more balanced at 4.5", but yes i eventually plan to go to 35's... i also am hoping to go to JK Rubicon axles next year if money works out. i am currently on the factory Dana 30 and Dana 44HD. i think 35's and 6" will look nice and balanced again.
the biggest reason to go to 6" was approach and departure angles... on any real rock-crawl type trails i was constantly dragging front and rear bumpers. this weekend i just did some local fairly hard trails and the difference in height and flex was amazing. (woodpecker and ajax)
i think the 4.5" coils were more like 4" and the 6" are more like 7" because the lifht change was significant, perhaps it will settle a little, but for now i'm very happy with the setup offroad.
on road, when changing lanes at speed on the freeway, the new height definately feels a little more wobbly. but within about 3 days i was completely used to it.
overall 4.5" and 33's was a perfect daily driver and expedition rig... but mine has to also server a 3rd purpose: weekend trail rig.
with this lift, then once i get a front bumper with a winch, i feel i'll be ready for the rubicon without much damage or tons of rock stacking, and that has been one of my long term goals.
here's my build thread if anyone wants to know more about "the black beast":
