Mud Flaps

I get the exact same mud splatter as the photo on the Hi lift mount thread. The problem is mud and water come in the window.

My tires stick out an inch or so from the fender flares but these tires look flush so I'm sure its because there's nothing below the bottom of the fender flare to deflect the splatter. Rock sliders or side steps would probably help but since I don't do any rock crawling I don't want to spend that kind of money or add that kind of weight just to keep my face clean.

So I'm thinking that the cheap splatter solution is to attach some very out of fashion mud flaps below the fender flares.

Has anybody tried this and if so, what happened?

Cheers,
Graham

I did this, it cuts down on the "in your face", well the Big chunks anyway. I haven't killed them in 3 years.

i think as long as your tires stick out over the fenders, it doesn't matter what you put below them... what about wider fender flares?

They're on my shopping list too but from the photo, fender flares that look to be flush with the tires cause the same splatter. So either its not a factor or the fender flares need to extend for some unknown distance over the edge of the tire.

Chances are I need both mudflaps and wider fender flares.

I have the factory Mopar accessory "soft" units, so they will fold back if encountering a rock or log, rather than be ripped off like the molded solid type. They really help but to be honest, I need wider flares too since going to the 31" Trxus M/T's.

I scrounged a real "Big" truck mud flap at work. heavy duty rubber, cut to size and 2 SS bolts and washers.
