Multi-Purpose Off Road trailer

First I love the design of the AT trailer is a nice and well thought of design but as another added on a other thread in would sit about 90% of the year and has one use off road camping.

How about as I call it a convertable design with these features.
1. ability to go down to the home depot and get 4x8 sheets of plywood for a project and other duties around the house?
2. ability to go on your expediton type run with a RTT.

all this from a trailer? let me show you mine

It sits on 35" Goodyear MTRs Tons of Ground clearance. I use a 3500lb Torsion bar suspension and had it derated to 1500lb.
I use a a Lock and roll coupler as it is quiet and its pretty bullit proof.
and it has the capabilities to expand.
The rack system is simple and is removable by 8 grade 8 bolts. I used rin nuts in the 2" bo I used as a frame,
My buddy at safaristraps.com made me a custom bed net so when I do carry a load its secure.

I use it as I have a inflatable boat and a bunch of other crap that we take down to Baja to secure the load.

My rig looks like a Rock Crawler but I built it also as a Expedition vehicle.
31.5 gallon GenRight Safari Tank
Rock Krawler 4" Suspension Rides Nice and soft.
Every electronics gadget available to man!
And the ability to cruise a 75mph towing on the freeway and no bump steer!
I recently drove this combo to Moab and then to Sedona and the Grand Canyon area 3000 in 2weeks and it was comfortable.

What do you guys think?

I saw your rig over on POR the other day in the huge "Let see your expedition rigs."
Very nice.

Yours and the other dark colored Jeep are very nice.
He has the Chaser that is painted the same color as his rig.

Nice job! I like these multifunctional cargo trailers. I might make one myself later on. I still have my 4x8 utility trailer in addition to my backcountry camper I'm building. I've had thoughts of selling the utility, and building a multi-use one like that. Something for hauling plywood from Home Depot, or firewood out of the bush, two motorbikes, or tent camping gear for when we don't want the camper.

I like it, very piratical. I am planning on something similar... with about 9' extra on the back to haul toys.

Looks great. Very nice, it turned out great. If I could add one suggestion it would be to place some small angle bracing for the rack part. It would add a bit of side to side strength to the rack. Just an idea. Good work regardless

I built the racks with the following steel stock
6"x2" 3/16 flat stock for mounts to trailer
2" square tube .188 wall for the risers
1"x2" square tube for the racks for the RTT
Complete burns all the way around.

Believe me it does not move but can add some gusssets for the cool factor but I had almost 500lbs 4x4x8 of wood on it and wasnt worried about it.:victory:

I like it! I was going to modify the enclosed tool trailer I fabbed and turn it into an off road camp rig, but I like the dual purpose style of yours. Mine already has an axle I ordered with TLC wheel set-up so I can run the same tires as the cruiser. It is off road capable now, but your rig is sweeeet! I will get to work some day and would like to do a slide/bolt in kitchen etc.
