My 2 week trip out west

I don't think I ever posted a link to the 2 week adventure and buddy and I took on bikes. It was the first and only time that I have really been out west other than walking up and down the strip in vegas and it ruined me. Now I am trying every angle to get back out there and hope I can convince the wife somehow that she would love it as well. Don't know if it is appropriate being it was done on motorcycles so if it isn't I guess someone can remove it but hopefully you guys will enjoy it.

If you guys are ever out in Arizona, try out 191. It took us 5 hours to go 87 miles and never once came upon another vehicle. It gets cold up around 10k feet but it was fun. The dragon don't have ******** on this road.

Better than Deals Gap?! That's a tough one to beat...

That was a tremendous trip made even better I think by riding a bike. This is the kinda stuff I like to see and read about. A couple of guys on the road, seeing the country. Putting on the miles and wearing out the smiles. I hope you can get the wife's thinking to come around and realize the west is the best. ;)

Your pictures from the Pacific Coast Highway are great. That road is unreal. Love this photo too -

Congrats for completing such a huge trek. That's the kind of trip your mind will wander back to for years to come. I appreciate the link and the chance to see so many fun photos. Nice work!

Awesome trip! I like how you crossed NM on the southern end, then came back across on I-40 on your way back east. The bikes must be very comfortable to cover that many miles.

Awesome trip. I keep hearing "Born to be Wild".
Definitely better gas mileage than a Land Cruiser!

What kind of motorbikes were those? Sorry if I didnt see what kind in your posts.

It was a awesome trip if I say so myself. My buddy was on a (blue) Suzuki DL1000 also known as a Vstrom while I was on the (red) Suzuki SV650s. It was good times for sure as you can see from this picture.

Just save up the vacation and do it. I had a $100 a day budget and ended up right on target, that was staying in hotel rooms every night also.

Hahaha!

I gotta budget the bike first!

I had a cruiser a few years back, but sold it when my wife got pregnant. I have regretted it ever since....

I hope to rectify the bike situation within the next couple of years, though....

Leaning heavliy towards a Strom. Trying to decide beween the V and the Wee has been a tough call, though. With my size, and my desire to take long trips on it, the V is probably the best call, but the economics of the Wee make it a pretty attractive package. Plus you can get the Wee with ABS.

Decisions...decisions.....

Either way, the planning for my first multi-day trip will begin the day I bring the bike home!

Scratch that...I already have a trip in my head....one that will get me an Iron Butt....

Fat_man, I've had 2 weestroms and they're great bikes. Everyone says that they are great bikes for the money but everyone that I know including myself that have owned one believe that they are great bikes even if they were $2k more. I don't know how big you are but unless you plan on using it to 2-up, it will handle anything you throw at it.

I'd love to make a cross country trip on 2 wheels one day. Looks like fun. I've heard nothing but good things about the SV's, been thinking about one for a couple years now.
