Link to my thread at MUD. http://forum.ih8mud.com/trailer-tech/372002-possible-all-terrain-trailer.html
Just asked a couple questions there and figured I'd ask here as well.
The plan is to have a capable all terrain trailer that will hold most of our camping gear and will also have a RTT on top.
"So I was rummaging around my steel pile tonight and came upon a few suspension links. I have a set of rear links of an FZJ80 and some skyjacker lower links meant for a lifter TJ jeep. Soooo, what about doing a triangulated 4-link with some airbags? You guys think this is a good idea?"
I like that the air bags could be tuned to the load in the trailer, also, the bags I'm looking at have about 5" of adjustability, meaning I could level it with different vehicles or raise it up to get over an obstacle. Any disadvantages?
"Im going to go with a 16" rim and 285/75 tire. Is a standard 6" wide trailer rim too narrow for that size tire? I have the tires already so just need to order some wheels."
I just read on BFG's website that 7.5" is the minimum 'recommended' rim width. The reason Im looking at the narrower rim is that its made for trailers and also super much cheaper than buying something else. Thoughts?
Ill update this thread with my build once I get my parts.
