My brain is thinking ...

I have a week in OBX, and a week in Punta Cana. I'm sure I can afford a long weekend at some point this year - kinda like last year. I'm going to pick up a ball - some random ball - and run with it. If you're in, you're in - if you're not ... well ... that's okay too.

I shall close this post with steak.

Your welcome to come visit me on the Central Coast of Cali. I've got LOTS of room.

Thanks, Joaquin! I may take you up on that one year. What a memorable adventure that would be! Got an extra surf board? ;)

We're ready, where to this time?

I'm thinking of a couple places - but leaning toward our WV campsite again.

1) We already know where it is. That's less time researching and more time exploring the general vicinity. 2) The campsite is nearly perfect. Its off the beaten path (ironically, along a beaten path), spacious, near a stream, and very scenic.

I'd like to:
- follow "big run" down the mountain
- hike the trail down in the valley off railroad bed
- drive the canaan loop
- do some bouldering at dolly sods

I'm also considering the general area of Tioga State Forest in Pennsylvania, and PA Grand Canyon. Its definately an area that I plan to visit this summer, likely for a weekend, but I don't picture it being quite as "wild" as WV - although everyone raves about it, so I expect it to be pretty nice. That can even be a different trip altogether.

Yep, cabin fever is setting in. If I don't get out of here soon, I'm going to go mad.

I might be game. Looking for a trip myself. Might have to hang at the camp for the hike. Having issue with the ankles but tryng to work through it.

Get a date so I make get the time off.

I'd love to visit WV again, the beaten path is little enough used it'll feel remote; moreso than it actually is.

The PA Grand Canyon is nice, too. I could probably do that.

What time of year were you thinking, Chris?

Dunno. May has stuff. June has stuff. I really want to take my wife and son this time, but she has soooo few vacation days since she changed jobs. Not sure how that's going to work out. I can ditch 'em again if need be. Although the foliage was nice, and there were zero bugs last time, it'd be kind of nice to be warm - we can pack lighter that way.

Let me take a look at my 8 ball ... ;)

We're interested too, both spots work for us and we've been to Tioga quite a bit. The campsites at Pa Grand Canyon have seen better days but not to bad. All primitive sites no water or electric, There are a lot of great picnic pavilions, stone and timber built with huge stone hearths, but there is no camping there. Good trails through a variety fo hardwoods, laurel and rock, plus I know of one killer walk down a trout stream into Pine Creek Gorge, heck of a walk back out though, hard on young kids. Speaking of which, great native brook trout streams, nothing like a fresh caught brookie roasted skin on over a campfire. No real ORV trails but lots of great 2 track forest roads. PA Lumbermans Mueseum is cool too
jim65wagon really raved about last years WV trip, and we're looking for new territory so that sounds great. WV is one of those places I've cruised timber in, but that was work and never got the chance to explore some of the cool spots i was driving past.

Hey Chris,

You wouldn't be interested in running some of the green and blue trails at Rausch Creek later in the month, would you? There are a couple of LR guys that were talking about maybe making a run the 24th, and I talked to a pair of Isuzu guys that showed a little interest, too.

If it ends up happening - anyone in the area who is interested would absolutely be welcome to come along! :truck:

Cool place if you guys have never been - and even the easy trails can be challenging...
