So, I fancy myself as a (limited ability) bike mechanic. That being said, I wanted a repair stand. Being that I just started grad school, I am very strapped in the cash department (I just see it as training for the rest of my life as an educator). So I did what any good slightly mechanically inclined person should do; I built my own stand.
I started with a good ol' google (bing, yahoo, whatever your flavor) search and found a plan I thought would be stable, cheap and bomb proof enough for me.

Then I decided to gather the parts and build it. I made one change, going with a pony clamp over a spring clamp.
Assembly went like clockwork. A pipe wrench and a spare set of hands (thanks Dad!) and I now have my own bike stand. I think it took a grand total of 15 minutes. I know it took me longer to gather all of the parts needed.
So, here is the finished product.
