I backed up into something yesterday, sideways and heard a loud pop. I was going very slow. My tire carrier is cracked at the edge.
The bolt on the left is a bit misaligned from the rest. Can I hammer it back in and hope the carrier integrity is ok? Or should I just buy another. Craigslist has a few for $50.
I was saving up for a front bumper. I'm running stock wheels. A new bumper-tire combo is a alot of money and weight, so I'd like not to go that route. I do have a gobi rack though, but haluling the tire up 6-7 feet is tough.
In a way am glad that the carrier gave way as it absorbed the shock and did not transfer it to the frame or tailgate.
