What a great trip. Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

I'm a native Floridian and have a 4 year old live in grand daughter. My dad was born and raised down in your area-Captiva Island.

I want to show her a lot of Florida. Working on getting the FJ62 back in roadworthy condition and I plan on a few road trips of my own with her.

Now, for yours....what kind of snakes were those?

BTW-I hate snakes! (lol) :)

blotched watersnakes.

very similar to the florida water snake, banded watersnake, brown watersnake, plain bellied watersnake..... my point is all water snakes are the same except they have different colors. the love to bite, they love to swim, they have keeled scales, they want you to think they are a water mocassin, and they smell terrible LOL

last leg of the journey today took 9 hours.

yes, i used BP. caught the frog outside the hotel this AM. the bumper to bumper was 2 miles from my house . . . i spend 9 hours on the road to make a dead halt 5 minutes from my house.

i also picked up a G2Z surefire and a pelican 8050 M11 flashlight on this trip.

I have pelican 1650 foam for sale, in one piece. brother in law tossed it to me since he didnt want the foam. make an offer and i'll send it usps.

final mileage 2,982.1 miles

my "equipment review"

-QT rear diff guard and Rover's North (welded on) front guards worked out great. they took at least 1 hit each to a rock on the trail and saved my butt.

-Michaels (built by the user on this board) sliders worked great as well at taking hits.

-Rovertym rear bumper, took one nice hit to the driverside without flinched. built in reciever hitch worked great for a winch recovery on me at North Peak

-HLC Fab front bumper: clearance was just what i needed. didnt take any hits or need any front recovery so i cant comment on that stuff yet

-hannibal rack/jerry cans- worked out great as usual. 1 can gave me the fuel i needed for the weekend of wheeling to top off my tank and the 5 gallons of water was plenty for the camp site.

-toyo open country A/Ts: 285/65/18. i have less than 50% tread so traction wasnt great due to that. i aired down for the trails, i was shocked i didnt blow a bead on North Peak. all the weight was transfered to the driverside front. the tire looked flat essentially and the sidewall was all kinked up. not enough sideway, lesson learned, tire wasnt at fault.... 18" wheels were.

thats all i can think of as far as "product" reviews.

well found out some cool stuff today and did some work on the items i found on my hikes that i kept.

-sharpened up the double edged axe... she'll work some magic on any tree now.

-took the fire extinguisher to a fire suppressant company to be inspected and filled.

it is in fact US Military. the tank is identical to the auto-fire suppressant system in the HMMWVs, however it is a hand held system so it may have been in a humvee or any other military transport/armored ground vehicle. it was built in 2002. it is a CO2 based system for electrical or gasoline fires (i.e. for vehicle use only). The tank should be good no matter what, but the condition of the valve is unknown. they are gonna test it tomorrow and give me a call. if the valve on the handle is bad, the tank 99% most likely, will be good. so i will have an 8.3lb CO2 tank which i will buy fittings for. i will probably keep it in the truck for tire use, obviously it isnt very big but it could help me keep a leaking tire filled with air long enough to get me home or to a place where i can switch to my spare rim more easily, which is worth the $12.50 filling fee.

anyway, i'm kidding excited having a better idea of what it was in fact used for and when it was made.

if it can be used as an extinguisher, anyone have mounting options or ideas of where to place it in my rover?
