Well let me start with, I am sorry. I am aware there are about a thousand of these build threads on the forums already!
This is more of a build/communal trouble shooting/brainstorming post.
Here is what I am starting with, a very clean M101A1. I have attached the link to the auction if you interested in seeing it as the “before”

The goal is to have a family wheeling basecamp type trailer. I have 5 kids between 12 years and 6 months. So having a trailer that can haul water, food, and gear is prime. A vehicle tent, some awnings, maybe a pullout kitchen. I am looking to take the kids on the old wagon trails out here in the Dessert southwest. I am based out of Yuma, AZ.
The knowns for right now is: axle swap, replace military axle with 3500# e-brakes Dexter w/5 on 5 to match the tow rig(Jeep JKU); repair the rear most cross member (somebody cut a portion out); media blast and repaint (CARC is a nasty lead based coating).
The things to get figured out is a power system, water supply, food storage (yeti type cooler or 12v DC), Roof top tent (which brand, size, accessories)
This will be an ongoing build/brainstorm so I thank everyone in advance for your inputs and your checking in on my progress as I post.
