My turn. 1995 Montero SR build thread...

Well I left the highly modified Suzuki scene for something more sensible. I had intentions of a G500 or Porsche cayenne build but with recent future uncertainty's at work and in investments I decided (with my financial dept.'s "advice")(see;wife) I would build another older rig. After much research and constant quest to go against the grain I chose a SR Montero.

Day one; New battery, wiper blades, 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2's and lots of little stuff. (bulbs, leaks etc..)

I like those battery terminals! Nice clean look.
Thanks. I really like them this way. I salvaged the 4/0 wire from a recycle bin (It's soft fine wire copper). I looked up the beldin part number and it's 20.00 a FOOT new! I got 63 feet of it for free because it had a couple nicked spots that I just cut out. SCORE!!

Not really here
Very clean set up and it looks like you did it right. I just wanted to give you a heads up on using them off road. If you go in any dusty/ dirty areas or if you plan to ford water, you may want to reconsider the install. I had a set up on my 04 GTO and it had the temp barrier to keep the air temperature going into the intake down. I dyno'd it and actually gained 2 hp at the rear tires. I noticed yours was open to the rest of the underhood area. That will allow hot air to enter the intake thus lowering any gains the intake should give you. It may actually lower the HP from stock.

Back on track... If you do take it off road as is, prepare to have MAF issues as well as a much higher chance of your engine gulping water causing a possible hydro-lock therefore seizing your engine. Like I said though, very clean install and all that matters is that you like it.

Agreed on the install. Looks very clean. Also what I've seen is when in dusty off road conditions those filters actually ingest more dirt particles versus the normal paper filter. Been there tried that w/ a K&N replacement for the OE filter.

After watching his zuk build, i would say its probably not done yet. A pre filter works wonders for dust as well!

Agreed with all the replies. I really don't like them either and will go to a snorkel when moneys right. For now I will use this as a experiment.
