If you are an owner of a Jeep JK owner and have the "myGiG'" navigation system and wondered as I did, why doesn't the U-connect function work or why doesn't the DVD aspect of myGIG not work in my manually optioned Rubicon vs. a friends auto w/ the myGIG option, does? (Sitting still of course.)
Jump on the net and check out "myGIG lockpick." I found that there are options!
Not only did I find where to get a lockpick (and define what it was) but I discovered that this little piece of hardware unlocks many doors. I found a option for a microphone that enabled the U-connect function of myGIG, also a CD that enables the 100,000 word voice recognition soft-ware that allows you to write yourself notes (verbally), add phone number to the 30gb hard-drive. (Great..loose your phone once and this option pays real dividends.) The kit also upgrades the GPS with the latest info. There are options for front and/or rear cameras (great for hooking up the trailer), options for AV monitors for the kids in the back seat (as you watch or listen to another function in the front seat(GPS too)). I really like the ability to reprogram the GPS while in motion.
I recognize that Jeep placed "defaults" on many functions of it's myGIG for liability reasons....like watching a video instead of watching the road, as you drive. But I believe that this group of adventurers may have intellect enough to recognize this. Personally, I hate using a phone while driving. This let's me do it hands free, for those times when folks call me. It's sometimes nearly impossible to pull over to answer the phone in time. (providing your phone is blue tooth compatible-the kit explains that too.)
